The Gate Picture House is starting a series of late night screenings with Akira on the 20th and 21st of July at 11pm. Tickets are £12.50 for an adult ticket or £11.00 for Income Support, Retired (60+) or Student.

Another Akira screening :/ With so many great anime titles out there, I do wonder why there have been so many screenings of Akira lately....

It may have something to do with the movie being made of LIQUID METAL AWESOME!

Seriously - for a movie made wayyyy back in 1987, it still looks utterly amazing - and I mean that in a 'no concessions to age' sort of way.

Can't be shown in cinemas ENOUGH, in my opinion.

Saw this at the cinema teice last year. It seems to be on at the Prince Charles Cinema every few months or so, sometimes with Ghost in the Shell.

Personally, I'd love to be able to see Sword of the Stranger again on the big screen. Or something by Satoshi Kon.
