Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside Volume 5 Review

Frankly, I’m disappointed that author Zappon leaned into the sister-ship so hard, given the series up until now has managed to avoid it. There have always been hints that Ruti held romantic feelings for Red, but since he’s oblivious to it and she hadn’t outright said it until now, I was happy to gloss over those in the hopes nothing would ever come of it. Now I fear that might not be the case after all and, honestly speaking, that makes the series a lot more difficult to recommend to people.

Oh dear... Why must so many of these stories lean into "sister-ships"? This one can't even hide behind the "Oh, but we're not blood siblings!" debate, which indeed makes me lose future interest in this series, as terrible as that sounds. Scenarios like this just make me wary of the author leaning even harder into it going forward.

Ah well. I appreciate you highlighting it in your review whatever the case.
