“Sailor Moon Crystal” Cast And Air Dates Revealed

The upcoming brand spanking new anime adaptation of Naoko Takeuchi’s genre definining Sailor Moon manga certainly has been a big deal ever since it was first announced. Yesterday’s Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary Project Special Stage event finally revealed that the highlighly anticipated Sailor Moon Crystal anime will begin broadcasting on on 5th July and will air on the first and third Saturdays of every month, mirroring the timeslot of the original anime adaptation and will be streamed worldwide on NicoNico.

The anime’s main cast was also revealed:

  • Kotono Mitsuishi (Evangelion‘s Misato Katsuragi) will be reprising her lead role of Sailor Moon (Usagi Tsukino).
  • Hisako Kanemoto (Journey to Agartha‘s Asuna Watase, Squid Girl‘s Squid Girl) will be voicing Sailor Mercury (Ami Mizuno)
  • Rina Satou (A Certain Magical Index/A Certain Scientific Railgun‘s Mikoto Misaka) will be voicing Sailor Mars (Rei Hino)
  • Ami Koshimizu (Bravely Default‘s Agnés Oblige, Kill la Kill‘s Ryuko Matoi) will be taking on the role of Sailor Jupiter (Makoto Kino)
  • Shizuka Itou (Shakugan no Shana‘s Wilhelmina Carmel) has been cast as Sailor Venus (Minako Aino)

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal is being directed by Munehisa Sakai (One Piece), while Yuji Kobayashi (Smile Precure!) is in charge of scripts. The character designs are being handled by Yukie Sako (Majestic Prince‘s chief animation director).
