Steamboy to be a dub-only UK release?

According to a press release at DVD Times, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced that the UK DVD release of Katsuhiro Otomo’s Steamboy (set for a UK release on the 27th of July) will only contain the English dub (with optional English and Hindi subtitles).

However, since several online retailers are listing a separate (and more expensive) UK “director’s cut” of Steamboy; we naturally assume this will contain the original Japanese language track. That said, the DVD Times press release contains no information about this special edition and perhaps more worryingly, the BBFC website reveals that only the English dub for the “extended” (special) edition of Steamboy has been submitted for their review.
