Oldest Anime ever found?

Until recently the oldest Japanese animation ever created was said to be “Imokawa Mukozo the Doorman” created in 1917 by Shimokawa Hekoten, however that may no longer be the case. Found amongst a collection of foreign animation at Osaka-Tokyo University of Arts and Music by part time lecturer Matsumoto Natsuki this new piece of animation could predate all others.

Found in an old projector the hand drawn animation depicts a sailor saluting and lasts three seconds. The animation is drawn entirely in red and black.
