American Animé Awards

In an attempt to glamorize animé in North America and take advantage of Oscar season, the US industry has decided it should be handing out awards to itself; the “American Animé Awards” will be held in February and plans are afoot to celebrate the best of Japanese animation in the US. The nominations will be decided by “industry experts” (currently there is no information as to whether or not the awards will only involve releases from the past year or will simply cover everything) but the eventual winners will be voted by fans, via web polls. The climatic event will take place at the New York Comic Con and will be hosted by a bunch of English dub voice actors.
