Kanye West digs hentai; free “global manga” preview

Having attended the listening party for Kanye West’s latest hip-hop album, NYmag seem all too happy to point out that the music was “inexplicably” complimented by “hyperviolent Korean cinema and anime porn”.

As we reported back in July, West’s “Stronger” music video was heavily inspired by the classic anime movie Akira and it’s probably fair to assume that this new album will contain a number of references to Eastern pop culture. Of course, given Kanye West is one of the most popular musical artists in the world right now, his efforts will no doubt help to introduce anime to a whole new generation of fans.

On a related note, NYmag have also published a good quality preview of TokyoPop’s “global manga” comic ‘Undertown’.
