New Genshiken TV series set for October debut

Following up Genshiken‘s first season (12 episodes) from 2004, it has finally been announced that the popular otaku comedy is to receive a second TV series and will start airing on Japanese TV in a matter of months; to be precise, this coming October. Images from the new season can be found here.

The Genshiken anime is based on the fan-favourite manga (of same name) by Kio Shimoku. The story is a slice of life look into the daily happenings of a Japanese otaku club, pairing yaoi (gay anime/manga) fan-girls with mecha devotees. Despite being released in the US back in 2006, UK anime fans are still eagerly awaiting news on any potential DVD release.
