Nintendo 3DS owners set to become manga artists with Comic Studio

The Nintendo 3DS, which was recently named the UK’s highest selling video game console in 2013, already has a lot to offer for the more artistic owners, such as the Colors 3D application and Nintendo’s own New Art Academy but now, fans of Japanese manga will finally be given the chance to become a mangaka themselves, by using their Nintendo 3DS.

Collavier and Nintendo today revealed “Comic Studio”, a Nintendo eShop application that allows users to create their very own manga comics and give them a professional look with precise panel layouts, screen-tones, multiple layers and more before saving your comics as JPEG files and transfering them to your camera or computer (unfortunately transferring images directly to other 3DS consoles isn’t available, possible as a result of the Letterbox fiasco). Up to 80 comics of up to 80 pages long can be saved at any one time.

The application will be launching in Japan on 15th January for 800 yen (£4.64) and an international release has been confirmed, although dates have yet to be announced.
