Sword Art Online II to begin airing in July

Following the reveal of Sword Art Online II at the end of the New Year Sword Art Online: Extra Edition special episode, which promised to adapt the Phantom Bullet arc from Reki Kawahara’s original light novel series. During today’s Sword Art Online panel at the Dengeki Game Festival, it was finally confirmed that this brand new TV anime will begin broadcasting this July.

A-1 Pictures will resume their animation duties, with director Tomohiko Ito and character designer Shingo Adachi returning to adapt the series, while Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will reprise his role of Kirito from the first series and Miyuki Sawashiro will return as Sinon, a role she played in the Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment PlayStation Portable game.

Manga Entertainment UK released the first series on DVD and Blu-Ray in the United Kingdom, while Yen Press will be publishing the first light novel next month.
