Animax UK reveals Spring 2014 Line-Up
Last week, like any that bring a close to a season, was cruel on anime fans as we had to watch series’ that we had religiously followed for three months (and sometimes more) all conclude within the space of seven days. Fortunately though, for every dark day there is one of piercing light – the curtains may have closed on the winter season, but the stage is currently being set for spring to take over!
Crunchyroll are still announcing their line-up, but UK anime streaming service have announced their full Spring 2014 line-up in one go!
Aniplex and BONES’ Soul Eater NOT! is arguably the highest profile simulcast pick-up for the service. An adaptation of Atsushi Okubo’s prequel slice of life spin-off of his more popular shonen manga series, the story of this alternate chapter in the story of DWMA’s weapons and meisters centres on the weapon Tsugumi Harudori, a young girl who is “in love with love” and the students of the Normally Overcome Target classes, which teaches its students to control their powers so that they can live an every day life.
The Kawai Complex Guide To Manors & Hostel Behaviour, Brain Base’s adaptation of Ruri Miyahara’s comedy manga is the next addition to Animax’s library. Kazunari Usa embarks on a pinnacle moment in life – the indepdence of living away from home. This new breath of fresh air is given an even sweeter smell when he discovers the girl of his dreams Ritsu attends the same school as him but of course, not everything is perfect. Living by yourself may mean now rules or curfews, but it does mean having so many responsibles suddenly thrust upon you – which is only made even worse when your next door neighbour has a penchant for lecherous behaviour! Will Usa’s budding relationship with Ritsu be threatened by the weird relationship advise from Ritsu’s aunt Sumiko and what will an encounter with an older, flirty woman on the street ruin Usa’s dreams of the ideal independant life?
Although Akiyuki Shinbo is directing the currently ongoing Nisekoi, he and SHAFT are joining together once more along with Yuki Yase for Mekakucity Actors. For two years now Shintaro Kisaragi has been living a life shut in his room as a hikkokomori, unwilling to leave his room until Ene, a cyber-girl who appeared on his computer screen when he received an anonymous email a year before, tampers with Shintaro’s TV, forcing him to leave the confines of his room for the first time in two years.
Animax recently added the first series of Date A Live to their back catalogue for subscribers, so it comes as no surprise that they have secured the rights to supernatural romantic comedy’s sequel. Picking up the story of Shido Itsuka and his encounter with Tokha, a spirit girl who wiped out the majority of the human race thirty years ago. As the laws of anime culture would dictate, the only way to prevent Tohka from inflicting another tragedy upon mankind is to date her!
