Free London Screening of Live-Action Thermae Romae

Londoners will get a Japanese delight when they attend The Roman Road festival because it will hold a free London screening of the 2012 live-action film Thermae Romae on Thursday July 3 at 6.30 P.M. in Costa Coffee on Roman Road.

Synopsis

Roman bathhouse architect Lucius (Hiroshi Abe) is a perfectionist but he gets fired from his architectural practice. In order to cheer him up, a friend takes him to a bathhouse which is where Lucius slips through a time portal and ends up in modern day Japan which is where he finds modern day Japanese baths and implements and a beautiful aspiring manga artist named Mami (Aya Ueto) who loves to sketch him. With these inspirations, he adapts them into his designs in his Roman bathhouses. This sees Lucius become favoured by Emperor Hadrian but Lucius soon finds himself caught up in political intrigue.  

Thermae Romae was a mega-hit at the Japanese box-office back in 2012. The film was adaptated from Mari Yamazaki’s manga and starred mega stars Hiroshi Abe and hugely popular talento Aya Ueto. A sequel was released earlier this year where it proved to be a further hit. The news was reported on Anime News Network earlier today which gave further details on the location and booking:
