Under the Dog Surpasses Kickstarter Goal

A few hours after yesterday’s news post about Under the Dog’s Kickstarter was published, its $580,000 goal was reached. At the time of writing this news post, $683,025 has been pledged by 10,070 backers with 44 hours to go.

Under the Dog takes place in 2025 in Neo Tokyo, five years after a devastating terrorist attack at the Tokyo Olympics. In the wake of the tragedy, the U.N. formed a covert ops unit dedicating to seeking out, then eliminating those responsible for the attack. Anthea Kallenberg, a girl of Swedish descent is a member of this elite group who has honed her combat abilities and has become a deadly assassin, but must come to terms as to who she really is.

Under the Dog is a sci-fi thriller that echoes cyber punk anime of the 90s. Creative Intelligence Arts now have the funds to create a 24 minute episode (the first in a planned trilogy) and release the anime complete with English subtitles as well  as the original soundtrack, behind-the scenes-diaries and interviews. If backers pledged $20 or more then they will have digital access to this and any future Under the Dog episodes.

According to Anime News Network, the creators are “in talks with Netflix and Crunchyroll to distribute the finished work.”
