Second Season Of Nisekoi Receives Greenlight

Back in January, Aniplex and SHAFT teamed up to produce a 20 episode adaptation of Naoshi Komi’s hit Weekly Shonen Jump romantic comedy manga Nisekoi. The wrap-around jacket for the series’ fourteenth volume, which is scheduled to go on sale in Japan this Friday, has revealed that a second anime season has been green-lit. Details are still scarce and news of whether the studio or the series’ staff are returning has yet to be confirmed, but more details will be made known in subsequent issues of Weekly Shonen Jump.

The series, which was directed by Akiyuki Shinbo (MonogatariPuella Magi Madoka Magica) and Naoyuki Tatsuwa, focused on Raku Ichijo and Chitoge Kirisaki, the eldest children of two rival organised crime families on the verge of war. In order to prevent their town being swept up in mob warfare, the two are forced to pretend to be lovers! The two absolutely hate each other, but that’s not the only problem – Raku is wearing a pendant around his neck that can only be opened by a girl he made a promise with ten years ago and he has a crush on Kosaki Onodera, a girl in his class!

Aniplex of America have licensed the series for release in North America, but a UK release has yet to be announced.
