Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul Launches Virtually This Month

The year 2020 has not been kind to movies, with lockdown related closures shutting cinemas around the world and leading to substantial delays for everything from studio blockbusters like Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, to smaller releases like the dark fantasy anime film Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, which was originally slated for 13th April. While fans will currently have to wait until November to see Natasha Romanoff’s long overdue solo movie, however, Sentai Filmworks have confirmed to us that Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul will be available to watch at home from 18th September 2020.

The movie will be available to stream via the premium service Eventive for $19.99. The film will be available to view from 6:00am BST on Friday 18th September 2020, after which, you will have 7 days to start watching the film, and once you begin, you will have 24 hours to finish. Both Japanese subtitled and English dubbed versions are available, but will need to be purchased individually. Made in Abyss: Dawn of Deep Soul will be available in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United States, and Canada. While the film will be screened in select cinemas in the United States, the UK release will be digital only.

You can watch the film via your laptop or PC via the internet browser, Android devices using Chrome, and iPhones and iPads running Safari. If you’re looking to experience the film through your home cinema system, Eventive have apps for Apple TV and Roku, and the service supports Chromecast for Android devices, while Air Play is supported for iOS. You can find more technical information on Eventive’s website.

Sentai Filmworks describes the film as follows:

Dawn of the Deep Soul continues the epic adventure of plucky Riko and Reg who are joined by their new friend Nanachi. Together they descend into the Abyss’ treacherous fifth layer, the Sea of Corpses, and encounter the mysterious Bondrewd, a legendary White Whistle whose shadow looms over Nanachi’s troubled past. Bondrewd is ingratiatingly hospitable, but the brave adventurers know things are not always as they seem in the enigmatic Abyss…

Includes two bonus short films from Marulk’s Daily Life.

Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul is a feature length sequel to the critically acclaimed 2017 anime Made in Abyss, which is available on Blu-ray courtesy of MVM Entertainment, and is streaming on HIDIVE. A pair of films recapping the events of the series, Made in Abyss: Journey’s Dawn and Made in Abyss: Wandering Twilight, are also available for streaming on HIDIVE.
