See You in My 19th Life Volumes 6 and 7 Review
Seoha and Jieum have made little steps forward in their relationship, but a blind date set up by Seoha’s father might bring everything crashing down… or it would if Jieum didn’t trust Seoha.
In fact, the blind date kicks up a media storm that Seoha and Mi Corporation, his father’s company, didn’t expect. Thankfully, he has people close to him who are there to support him whenever he needs it, whether he wants it or not. However, this brings to light what happened over twenty-three years ago when Seoha was a child and found himself in the car crash that killed Juwon and deeply traumatised him. It wasn’t an accident as he has believed all this time, but someone was behind it, and now he needs to find out who!
This search though brings back his trauma and Jieum can’t put off telling the truth about herself if she wants to stop Seoha from spiralling down. Will he really believe that she was Juwon in her previous life? What if this pushes him away? Is it a risk worth taking? Well, for Jieum it is, and now she needs to trust in Seoha’s feelings for both Juwon and Jieum. This is what is going to make or break them, and I can’t wait to see what will happen.

While the story is fully in the romance category, in these couple of volumes the mystery bit that gets hinted at in previous volumes is in full swing. Now that Seoha knows the truth about the accident, he wants to find out about the person who was behind it, but the only thing he knows is that it was someone close to him. Who could it be? With the help of Jieum, Chowon and Doyun, he comes up with a plan, but the mysterious culprit starts targeting his friends, and the author Lee Hye, decided to end Volume 7 with a really bad cliffhanger as someone gets stabbed! I’m really thankful to my past self who picked up this series on Webtoon, otherwise I would NOT be ok NOT knowing whether the character would survive and what happens next.
Each volume continues to have a large page count, and although we almost see a day-to-day representation of the characters’ lives, it’s neither boring nor dull. Something is always happening, and Lee Hye is good at keeping a good pace for the narration with words and illustrations that hint at what’s to come. While I wouldn’t call these volumes action-packed, there is definitely more action than Jieum trying to secure Seoha’s love.
Doyun and Chowon take a step back in the narration and become more like support characters who help guide and protect the two main protagonists in their time of need. Their relationship is strained but they can’t avoid seeing each other, due to their ties with Seoha and Jieum. The readers can clearly see that they have feelings for each other, but what’s stopping Doyun from making a move is still to be seen. Is it really due to their financial differences? I really hope that they too can find their happy ending.
Another character who becomes more prominent in these volumes is Seoha’s father. It’s clear he’s hiding something in regard to the car accident and the new murder that Seoha finds himself somehow involved with. Who is pulling the strings and why is Seoha’s father trying to hide it and even influence the police in their investigation? Is he the real culprit or is there something else going on? The readers unveil the mystery through the characters’ actions although we are also given hints that something else is going on behind the scenes.
