ADV Films UK halt sales, distribution of select titles Tue, 22 Jan 2008

According to a press release received by our forum user darksaviour, ADV Films have halted sales and distribution of several of their newer UK DVD releases while they transition their "UK operations from a US-run office outsourcing to retail partners, to a partnership with a yet-to-be-named local home entertainment group possessing both the track record and the forward planning to handle such a valuable library of international licenses". As a result, the UK DVD releases of the following anime have been placed "on hiatus" until further notice:

Pumpkin Scissors, The Wallflower, Ah! My Goddess Series 2: Flights of Fancy, 009-1, Red Garden, Innocent Venus, Kurau Phantom Memory, Utawarerumono, Paniponi Dash, Guyver: The Bio-boosted Armor, Le Chevalier D'Eon, Coyote Ragtime Show and Jinki: Extend

The reasons given for this change-over include "facing up to the new digital future" and recognizing "the need to be more streamlined and customer-responsive". Clearly, this explains the bargain-basement sales below, but it also paints a rather murky and uncertain future for ADV in the UK.
