Third season of slice-of-life anime Aria set to be confirmed
The October issue of the Japanese magazine “Comic Blade” is set to confirm that production is underway on a further TV series of the surreal ‘slice-of-life’ anime “Aria“.
According to Moonphase, the third season (which has been in production since spring) will again be directed by Junichi Sato (Pretear). With no license for “Aria” outside of Japan, the likelihood of it ever coming to the UK is slim, let alone to America; however, with ADV’s recent interest in the likes of ‘supernatural slice-of-life’ anime such as “Air“, it is safe to assume that it is not completely out of the question.
Update: Moonphase reports that “Mag Garden“, who produce the Japanese magazine “Comic Blade“, have confirmed that the third season of “Aria” will be called “Aria the Origination“. Furthermore, Junichi Sato will not only direct the animators of the project, but will also be able to edit the scripts. The press release (in PDF format) includes an image of all the characters of the series, and also states that the “Aria” manga has sold more than 3 million copies.
