Asian Film Events Around the UK

Third Windows films in conjunction with Coventry University’s East Asian Film Society have organised a festival of Asian cinema named East Winds this weekend.

In its press release, Third Window Films stated “Our goal is to raise awareness of Asian cinema to a university crowd who might normally not have much chance to catch Asian cinema on the big screen.”

The films are being screened at the Warwick Arts Centres and include some of the best titles to emerge from Japan in recent years including Sion Sono’s Cold Fish.

The list of films and times are as follows:

Confessions, Friday 11th 8PM

Kick the Moon, Saturday 12th 1PM

Memories of Matsuko Saturday 12th 3.30PM

Cold Fish Saturday 12th 8PM

Confessions of a Dog Sunday 13th 2.30PM

The Message Sunday 13th 8PM.

In related news, Japanese police movie, Confessions of a Dog, will be screened at the ICA in London on Wednesday 16th February at 18:30.

Described as the most devastating indictment of Japan’s police ever committed to film, this three hour film tracks the downfall of an initially friendly cop as he finds himself lost in a system open to abuse and corruption. 

The director, Gen Takahashi will also be present for a post-screening Q&A. Tickets prices: £10 / £9 Concessions / £8 for ICA Members.
