Buso Chugakusei Basket Army Anime

Images from a new anime series named Buso Chugakusei Basket Army (Armed Middle School Student Basket Army) have been released on the official website.

The story is set in August of 2026 with Japan suffering a long economic recession and rising international tension. To deal with this the government introduces military training for teenagers, Tōko Natori, a third-year middle school student in the Eastern Private Defense Academy, is on the last day of field training with an instructor who proposes a “extracurricular class” under the name “Newest Weapons Research” when, an incident occurs that shakes Japan.

Buso Chugakusei Basket Army is a new short anime series with episodes lasting three minutes. It is an adaptation of a light novel of the same name from the writer of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy 8 and is being directed by Romanov Higa, famous for Catblue: Dynamite.  Other staff involved include legendary composer Kenji Kawai (Patlabor, Sky Crawlers, Ghost in the Shell) handling the music. Natori is being voiced by Ami Koshimizu (Blood+, Persona 4) and Yuuki Kaji (Guilty Crown, Over Drive) will voice a character named Kurobe Kazuki.

The project is part of Enterbrain’s XXolution multimedia project which aims to adapt properties into other mediums like novels, manga, anime, music, and games. The first episode will stream on the official website from the 22nd of December and a new episode will be released every two months.
