Kunihiko Ikuhara To Direct “Yuri Bear Storm” Anime
Today, a teaser website opened for a brand new TV anime project from Silver Link (Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Ilya, Kokoro Connect) announcing Yuri Bear Storm (Yuri Kuma Arashi), which will be helmed by Kunihiko Ikuhara of Revolutionary Girl Utena and Penguindrum fame. Etsuko Sumimoto (animation director of Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion) is handling the character designs.
The plain and unnoticable high school girl Kureha is the lead of the self-described “intellectual fantasy”, where she has mysterious dreams involving an invisible storm and her classmate Ginko Yurishiro, who appears in the form of a bear.
A manga adaptation of the project by Akiko Morishama Akiko Morishama started serialisation in Japan’s Monthly Comic Birz magazine in February. The project has been teased from as far back as 2012.
Penguindrum was released in the United Kingdom by Manga Entertainment, who distributed the title on behalf of Kazé.
