Kokone should be diligently studying for her university entrance exams, but she just can’t seem to stay awake. Aside from stealing precious study time, her napping is even more distracting, as it brings on strange dreams with warring machines that hint at family secrets that have been dormant for years.

She can’t ask her father, a hipster mechanic more talented and artful than his job requires, as he’s always busy modifying motorcycles and cars in flights of fancy. What are these visions that lead Kokone at once closer to and farther away from her family?

The film is currently scheduled for release on 26th February 2018.

Next we have Princess Arete (Arete Hime) from Studio 4C and director Sunao Katabuchi (In This Corner of the World, Mai Mai Miracle). Released in 2001 the film will be coming to the UK for the first time on Blu-ray and DVD in Japanese audio with English subtitles only.

The film will be available in three different editions: Standard Blu-ray (SRP £19.99), Standard DVD (SRP £17.99), and a Shop Exclusive Collector’s Combo (SRP £34.99).

The Shop Exclusive Collector’s Combo includes the following content:

  • Film on Blu-ray & DVD
  • Rigid box packaging like the other AL CEs prior
  • 4 Artcards

Confined in the castle tower by her father, princess Arete spends her days watching the world outside her window. While she looks out at the common people working, the knights of the kingdom compete for her hand in marriage by searching for powerful magical items from a race of long-dead sorcerers.

When a sorcerer called Boax comes to the castle, he sets about persuading the King to let him marry the princess. But he secretly fears a prophecy which foretells Arete ending his life – leading him to imprison her the minute she’s in his castle!

Based on the 1983 story “The Clever Princess” by Diana Coles, this is a chance to see a story that fascinated Japan on the big screen.

The film is currently scheduled for release sometime between late February and early March 2018.
