Zavvi Lists ‘Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex’ Blu-ray Exclusive Deluxe Release
Update (28th March): Manga Entertainment have offered an official announcement and we have provided a new updated article to reflect this.
Thanks to our fellow members in the Anime UK News community, Zavvi have added a new listing that offers what seems to be a UK version of @Anime’s release for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
To briefly recap, Manga UK have the rights to the Ghost in the Shell franchise and have released Stand Alone Complex on DVD years back. Anchor Bay in the US released the series on Blu-ray however it suffered from numerous problems from audio being switched to Japanese during the English dub, subtitles that are actually dubtitles and basically being a terrible release altogether with many customers blocked from Anchor Bay’s social media. It was a mess.
While the Korean release has been selling very well for offering what is currently the best version of the series to own, Anime Limited’s French branch @Anime released an Ultimate Edition in France that covers the entire Stand Alone Complex series. UK distributor Manga Animatsu seems to have co-operated with Anime Limited to bring their version to the UK, based on the packaging designs.
The Zavvi listing currently provides the following information:
-
- SRP £99.99
- Release date of 4th June 2018
- English & Japanese audio with newly restored English subtitles
- 4 discs for Stand Alone Complex
- 4 discs for Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig
- 1 disc for Individual Eleven
- 1 disc for The Laughing Man
- 1 disc for Solid State Society
- 140-page Book
The 140-page Book is stated to go in-depth with interviews, cast & crew profiles, episode breakdowns and more. On-disc content includes cast & crew interviews, trailers, textless opening and TV spots. The series will be housed in a deluxe rigid box with a ‘metallic finish’ and a ‘custom digi-file’. The discs themselves will also feature new designs/artwork.
We have reached out to Manga Entertainment, who have issued a statement saying that they are unable to comment at this time.
