Arrow Video Adds Live-Action Terra Formars to Amazon Prime Channel

From acclaimed Japanese director Takashi Miike (Blade of the Immortal), the live-action feature film adaptation of Yū Sasuga and Michio Fukuda’s science fiction manga Terra Formers is now available for streaming as part of the Arrow Video Channel, available on Amazon Prime. The Arrow Video Channel is available for an additional £4.99 per month, and a 7-day free trial is available.

In an attempt to colonise Mars, 21st-century scientists seed the planet with algae to absorb sunlight and purify the atmosphere, and cockroaches who in turn spread the algae as they feed. 500 years later, the first manned mission to Mars loses contact with Earth, and a second ship is sent to investigate.

The film stars Hideaki Itō (Lesson of the Evil), Emi Takei (Rurouni Kenshin) and Tomohisa Yamashita (Ashita no Joe), alongside Rinko Kikuchi (Pacific Rim), Rila Fukushima (The Wolverine) and Shun Oguri (Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa).

The ongoing manga series is currently available in English from Viz Media, who released the series’ 20th volume in January. Liden Films (The Heroic Legend of Arslan) have adapted the series into two anime seasons and an OVA. The first anime season was licensed for release in the UK by Kazé, which was later cancelled.
