Based on Kugane Maruyama and so-bin’s popular light novel series, this is the second television anime adaptation of Overlord, with the first having previously been released in the United Kingdom as a Collector’s Edition blu-ray, and later Standard Edition Blu-ray and DVD, by Anime Limited. The 13 episode second season aired from January-March 2018, with a third season broadcast from July to October. All seasons are currently available for streaming on Funimation Now, with the Japanese-language versions of Season 2 and 3 streaming on Crunchyroll.

This news follows November’s surprise announcement that they would be releasing titles associated with Funimation Entertainment in North America, such as Mob Psycho 100 and The Ancient Magus’ Bride. Previously, Funimation titles were distributed in the United Kingdom by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
