Manga UK and Netflix’s Cannon Busters Not Launching On 1st March

Manga Entertainment UK and Netflix’s Cannon Busters anime series will not launch on the streaming service on 1st March 2019, the distributor confirmed to Anime UK News today.

Responding to a Netflix round-up article published on Mirror Online, Manga Entertainment confirmed to us via email that the listed release date is no longer accurate. Netflix had previously confirmed the 1st March 2019 release date to Deadline, but the Twitter bio for original creator LeSean Thomas now mentions a “Spring 2019” release period. Manga Entertainment were unable to comment further.

Based on LeSean Thomas’ fantasy comic series and animated by Satelight (Symphogear), Cannon Busters is the first major anime co-production for Manga Entertainment, who made their name as a distributor of anime titles. The company has also announced that they have optioned the rights to adapt Jim Zub’s Wayward comic series into an anime or live-action series.

Netflix describes Cannon Busters as follows:

The show follows the adventures and exploits of S.A.M, a high-end friendship droid who’s joined by a quirky, discarded maintenance robot and a brash, deadly fugitive. Together, the unlikely trio embarks on an unforgettable journey in a fantastic and dangerous world in search of S.A.M’s best friend, the heir to a kingdom under siege. LeSean Thomas created, directs and exec produces the series.

With international co-productions on the rise in the anime industry, are you looking forward to Cannon Busters or any of the other titles in development?
