Ghost in the Shell (1995), 2.0 Redux and Stand Alone Complex are coming to Funimation Now UK

US distributor Funimation has announced plans to add another batch of anime for the United Kingdom and Ireland on behalf of Manga Entertainment.

This time the latest additions are from the Ghost in the Shell franchise; with the 1995 classic Ghost in the Shell film, the 2008 redux Ghost in the Shell 2.0 film, the 2002 series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and the 2004 sequel series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG. They will be available for streaming on Funimation Now commencing Wednesday 11th September 2019.

Funimation has specified that the two films will be available in English audio, while the Stand Alone Complex seasons will be available in both English and Japanese audio with English subtitles. It’s not clear if the two compilation films Individual Eleven and The Laughing Man, and the Solid State Society film for Stand Alone Complex will also be made available.

These titles join the 2004 sequel to the original film Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, the 2013 OVA series Ghost in the Shell ARISE and its 2015 sequel film Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie that are already available to stream on the Funimation Now service for the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as the United States and Canada. Note that these upcoming new additions are exclusive to the United Kingdom and Ireland territories.

Manga Entertainment owns the rights to the Ghost in the Shell titles for the United Kingdom and Ireland and has released all of them on Blu-ray. Production I.G will return to work on the next Ghost in the Shell project with SOLA DIGITAL ARTS and illustration artist Ilya Kuvshinov over on Netflix in 2020 entitled Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045.
