Made In Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul In Cinemas This April
Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, an anime sequel film to Kinema Citrus’ dark fantasy anime series, will be released in selected cinemas in the United Kingdom from 13th April 2020, the North American distributor Sentai Filmworks announced this evening.
Sentai Filmworks describes the film’s story as:
Dawn of the Deep Soul continues the epic adventure of plucky Riko and Reg who are joined by their new friend Nanachi. Together they descend into the Abyss’ treacherous fifth layer, the Sea of Corpses, and encounter the mysterious Bondrewd, a legendary White Whistle whose shadow looms over Nanachi’s troubled past. Bondrewd is ingratiatingly hospitable, but the brave adventurers know things are not always as they seem in the enigmatic Abyss…
Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul is directed by Masayuki Kojima (Black Bullet) and written by Hideyuki Kurata (Goblin Slayer), who previously worked on the TV anime series. The soundtrack is composed by Kevin Penkin, whose work on the TV series won the 2018 Crunchyroll Anime Award,
The film will be screened with an English dub on 13th April, then in Japanese with subtitles on 15th April. The current list of confirmed screenings, is as follows:

The Made in Abyss anime series was first broadcast between July and September 2017, and is available for streaming on HIDIVE, and on home video by MVM Entertainment. Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul premiered in Japan in January 2020 and is the third anime feature film based on the series, with the previous two recapping the events of the TV anime. A new sequel project is currently in production, although whether it’s a new series or film has yet to be revealed.
