Funimation UK/IE Adds Kyoto Animation Anime Shows CLANNAD and CLANNAD After Story for Streaming

Funimation has announced plans to add CLANNAD and CLANNAD After Story to their streaming service on behalf of UK distributor Manga Entertainment for the United Kingdom and Ireland territories. The distributor has confirmed the two shows will begin streaming starting Friday 9th October 2020 during their official blog post. The show page can be accessed here if you live in the regions specified.

Based on the popular visual novel game from developer Key and adapted by studio Kyoto Animation, CLANNAD aired in 2007 for 22 episodes, an extra episode and OVA followed by its sequel series CLANNAD After Story in 2008 for 22 episodes, an extra episode, a summary episode and OVA. The two OVAs are what-if scenarios for the series.

About CLANNAD:

“Tortured by his past and pained by an uncertain future, Tomoya drifts through life with an almost overwhelming anger and emptiness. But when he meets the mysterious, beautiful, and shy Nagisa, his world seems to change. Drawn in by her gentle but lonely spirit, he begins to experience the joy life can bring. Manga Entertainment acquired the UK & Ireland rights for both CLANNAD shows and released the series on DVD. US distributor Sentai acquired the US & Canada rights for both shows and provided English dubs. The original visual novel is available to own in English on PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch (Japanese retail releases for both consoles include English support).
