Funimation Offers 30+ Anime for UK Streaming Including GANTZ, Kingdom Seasons 1 & 2, Scrapped Princess, Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid & More
Funimation has officially announced they have provided over 30 different anime titles for streaming to the United Kingdom and Ireland territories. This is a surprise considering the previous batches came from UK distributors.
What we have are a combination of anime that were released by Funimation many years ago for the United States and Canada (in many cases the distributor would also have UK & IE rights but never fully utilise them) and titles that belong to Aniplex of America.
To make this batch even more interesting, there are also a couple of anime included that have either never been made available for streaming in this region or were once exclusive to the defunct platform Animax UK.
Regardless, this batch is a great benefit for the UK anime community. Currently, while many of these have English dubs, the streams are in Japanese audio with English subtitles in the meantime.

To conclude this batch, you have noticed that some of these are shows that Funimation have never owned the UK & Ireland rights for prior, such as the GONZO shows like GANTZ. It’s possible the distributor was able to license a bundle full of shows for streaming to make it easier for UK & Ireland users to be able to watch the shows once again, but this is just speculation on our part.
Either way, there are still dozens of big anime titles that aren’t properly available for the UK & Ireland for streaming so let’s hope this batch from Funimation would be the first of many.
