Pokémon Horizons Season 2 to debut on BBC iPlayer in January
The second series of Pokémon Horizons will debut in the UK on BBC iPlayer in the New Year.
The Official Pokémon YouTube channel released a series of trailers promoting the new series, entitled The Search for Laqua, revealing that, as with the first post-Ash Ketchum series, the British will be getting to see episodes before North American streamers, where the series will not debut until 7th February.
The second series will continue to follow Liko and her newly evolved Floragato, Roy and his Fuecoco, and Dot and her Quaxly. The trailer also reveals the anime debut of some of the in-game characters, such as Rika and Hassel from the Paldea Region’s Elite Four.
Here is the official blurb.
In the newest season, Liko and Roy travel the world in search of the remaining Six Hero Pokémon and the legendary land of Laqua. But to grow as Pokémon Trainers, a new challenge awaits—Tera Training! Journeying through Paldea, Liko, Roy, and Dot must hone their Terastallization skills and battle the region’s powerful Gym Leaders. Then, Liko, Roy, and the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers resume their pursuit of the Six Heroes, including the black Rayquaza, as both they and the Explorers race to uncover the secrets behind Terapagos and finally find the path that will lead them to Laqua.
In recent years, the BBC has been increasing its anime holdings. In 2021, the BBC gained the UK rights to several of the older seasons of Pokémon. Earlier this year, the BBC got the rights to broadcast the first series of Horizons, with episodes being aired on BBC Two and CBBC. The BBC has also started streaming other series such as One Piece.
