It’s All Your Fault Volume 2 by merihachi (Yen Press) reviewed by Darkstorm

Shiho’s newly-found online popularity and partnership with fellow cosplayer Kanon is doing wonders for her creativity and love for cosplay, however she’s also gotten the attention of Moeka, a friend of Kanon who sees Shiho’s cosplay as ‘unoriginal!’ Can the pair work things out? Meanwhile, the SM Society gear up for a trip to the beach for Kanon’s first photobook shoot. I didn’t find this volume as engaging as the first one, mostly due to the rather brash and unlikeable Moeka taking up a lot of attention in the first half of this book, and messing up the dynamic that worked well in the previous volume. However the second half is stronger, with Shiho and Kanon getting closer, and prepping to sell their first photobook, which is interesting to see develop and have an impact on each other’s methods to cosplay. The ‘M’ rating from Yen Press is mostly due to showing skin and extreme closeups of body parts; there’s no sex in this volume. Score 7/10

Our Dining Table: Seconds, Please! Volume 1 by Mita Ori (Seven Seas) reviewed by Sarah

Lonely young salaryman Yutaka and student Minoru first met through Minoru’s little brother Tane over a mutual love of onigiri. Sharing meals brings them together as Yutaka loves to cook and the two brothers are keen to learn from him. (Little Tane calls Yutaka ‘Yukata’ but is very fond of him.) Yutaka and Minoru are now dating – and as Yutaka gets to know the family better, he meets their father, a potter, and learns the sad facts  about the boys’ late mother. But will their relationship founder when Minoru’s self-styled ‘ex’ puts in an appearance? This is the long-awaited sequel to Our Dining Table (2019) which was made into a popular TV BL drama (2023) and Mita Ori’s charming drawings and gift for creating sympathetic, believable characters make it an endearing read. Volume 2 is due out in early 2026. Score 9/10

Detectives These Days Are Crazy! Volume 2 by Igarashi Masakuni (One Peace Books) reviewed by Demelza

The mismatched detective duo Keiichiro and Mashiro take on several new cases in this second instalment of the comedy series. A rival detective comes to them with a stalker problem, one of Mashiro’s classmates is dealing with a ghost and the group gets invited to a dinner party on a remote island that Mashiro is convinced will be the scene of a murder. There’s still nothing remotely realistic about this one, but that’s proving less of a problem now that our expectations have been properly set from Volume 1. It’s still ridiculously whacky in both storytelling and artwork, but there’s a lot of heart here, and that carries it through. Worth continuing if you enjoyed its first outing. Published by One Peace Books with an excellent translation by Emily Balistrieri. Score: 8/10

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Volume 3 by Wan Shibata (Art), Saekisan (Original Story), Suzu Yuki (Storyboards), Hanekoto (Original Illustrations) (Square Enix Manga) reviewed by Demelza

Christmas is fast approaching, and Amane finds the courage to ask Mahiru to spend the day with him. However, on Christmas Eve, he’s hanging out with Itsuki and Chitose, who still don’t know about his regular dinner arrangements with Mahiru. What happens when they accidentally find out…? This is another charming instalment of this romance series, as not only do our two leads grow closer over the festive period, but it also does a good job of bringing the two side characters into the fold. I’m looking forward to seeing how the dynamic between the four changes now that Itsuki and Chitose know it’s Mahiru who’s living next door and keeping Amane fed! Published by Square Enix Manga with translation by Nova Skipper and lettering by Kaitlyn Wiley. Extras include colour pages and a short story by the original author, Saekisan. Score: 8/10

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Volume 16 by Osamu Nishi (Vertical) reviewed by Noemi10

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Volume 16 cover

Coco Orobas’ latest victim at the Harvest Festival is Clara, but neither Iruma nor Asmodeus will let him touch her. When they go to her defence, Asmodeus gets disqualified, so now it’s up to Iruma and Lied to reach first place by blooming the legendary leaf… that Coco stole. Thankfully the Misfit Class always supports one another and steps in when needed, so it’s not long before Iruma gets his hands back on the leaf. The whole volume is full of action and plot twists that the readers couldn’t see coming. The ending though makes us want to get the next volume ASAP because now someone knows Iruma’s secret! What will they do with it? Score: 9/10

The World After the Fall Volume 7 by singNsong (original story), Undead Gamja (3B2S STUDIO) (art) and S-Cyan (adaptation) (Ize Press) reviewed by Noemi 10

The World After the Fall Volume 7 cover

Jaehwan and his four-people army are attacking the Recovery Palace to stop warriors from upper levels of the Tree coming down to their territory and rescuing the fruits that would grant rebirth to the deceased souls. However, stronger opponents keep appearing one after the other, and Jaehwan needs to awaken the first step in the genesis skill to create a view of the new world he envisions. From here on out, he needs to become even stronger to climb the Tree of Illusion, and to do so he needs to leave behind the castle of Gorgon and its inhabitants. The story continues to introduce more knowledge about the set-up of this world little by little, still leaving the readers with more questions than answers. I’m looking forward to finally having a complete view of the background of this fantasy world.(Volumes 8-10 are currently available). Score: 6/10

With our thanks to Yen Press, Ize Press, Square Enix Manga, One Peace Books, Vertical (Kodansha), Diamond Book Distributors and Turnaround Comics (Turnaround Publisher Services).
