Animax announces Winter 2014 simulcasts: Nisekoi, Chunibyo and more!

The Winter 2014 anime season is finally among us! While Wakanim have been running full-steam ahead with new addition Space Dandy and Crunchyroll have already started serving up their new slate, things were admittedly a little quiet from the newer Animax service. Today, they finally revealed which titles they would be bringing to the United Kingdom:

The highest profile new series is arguably SHAFT and Akiyuki Shinbo’s adaptation of Nisekoi. Based on an ongoing Weekly Shonen Jump romantic comedy manga by Naoshi Komi, the series follows Raku Ichijo and Chitoge Kirisaki – too teenagers who when they met, it was less “love at first sight” and more “knee in the face at first sight”. They hate each other but as heirs to two rival organised crime families, the two have to pretend to be lovers to avoid an all out gang war. To complicate things, Raku has a locked pendant he received from a girl he knew ten years ago and a promise that when they meet, her key will unlock his pendant and they will get married…except he doesn’t even remember who the girl is!

Their next title is another romantic comedy with the sequel series to Kyoto Animation’s Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions. Following the events of the first season, Yuta and Rikka are now secretely living together when Yuta, who has never had a girlfriend before, starts to struggle with the reality of having a chunibyo girlfriend!

Naz’s Hamatora supernatural anime series is the third of the four simulcasts. People who possess a supernatural abilities known as “Minimum Holders” have recently emerged and two such Minimum Holders, Nice and Murasaki form a detective agency called “Hamatora” based in a local coffee shop, before they are tasked in helping in a serial murder case – where all the victims are Minimum Holders.

The fourth and final simulcast anime of this season is Sekai Seifuku: World Conquest Zvezda Plot from A-1 Pictures. The series follows Kate Hoshima, who was born with magnificent skills in her attempt to conquer the world. Does she have what it takes to uphold the legendary Zvezda Plot?

The first episodes of each series will go live tomorrow and will be updated weekly. Will you be watching any of the shows this season?
