Viz Media clamping down on Death Note fansubs

In an interesting move, Viz Media (US) have issued cease and desist notices to a number of fansub groups and file sharing communities involved in the production and distribution of Death Note fansubs – at the time of these notices, there were only two episodes left of Death Note to air in Japan, ultimately cutting off illegal production of the popular horror series just as it was reaching it’s climax.
