Kotatsu Japanese Animation Film Festival Update – Kotatsu in Aberystwyth

The organisers behind the Kotatsu Japanese Animation Festival have been very busy lately and with the festival approaching, now might be a good time to take stock of what has changed between the last post and now:

What we knew was that this year’s festival is to be held at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff on June 07th and some of the films getting screened including Patema Inverted, Mai Mai Miracle and Colorful. In the latest update we find that there is now a second event which will be held at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre on the June 21st. Aberystwyth gets most of the programme except Colorful.

The short film, “By Your Side” directed by Tsuneo Goda has been added to the programme and will be screened at both events. The film is described as “the collaboration of Tsuneo Goda, the creator of Domo and the singer Sade, created thorough the project called Zapuni.” Here’s the trailer:

The director of Patema Inverted, Yasuhiro Yoshiura, shows fans in the UK that he’s taking an interest in the film screening by leaving a special message on the front page of the Kotatsu site.

As well as films, the programme of events for Cardiff gives information on some of the things on offer from the Japanese marketplace including a food shop and raffle which will allow people the chance to win anime and manga and other items as well.

Full details of what will be screened and the times they are screened can be found on the programme page.
