Anime Limited Reveal Giovanni’s Island Release Details

‘I fell in love with Giovanni’s Island when I first saw it! It’s a wonderful, interesting, touching story about a time in Japanese postwar history that has been overlooked by many. Not only is it an incredible story of friendship but it’s also a fascinating history lesson beautifully animated.’ – Andrew Partridge, Anime Limited

It was only yesterday when we reported that the award winning anime movie Giovanni’s Island would be shown at the BFI Southbank in London next month, but now Anime Limited have come out and confirmed how they will be handling the theatrical and home video releases of the movie.

In October and November, the film will be shown in 11 cinemas in 7 locations across the country before Anime Limited release an “Ultimate Edition” release in Winter 2014, of which only 1000 units will be printed, which will have an RRP of £54.99 and include:

– A copy of the film (both subbed and dubbed) on DVD and blu-ray.

– A 75 page softback book of production notes and artwork.

– 55 minutes of extras, including a 38 minute long “Making Of”, Digital Art Gallery, an interview with the Russian voice of Tanya and a deleted music clip from the feature.

– 18.1x 21cm Collector’s Packaging.

Then, on 26th January 2015, the movie will be released as a standard DVD (£14.99) and blu-ray (£19.99). Both standard releases are in normal amaray packaging and contain the 55 minutes of extras from the Ultimate Edition release.
