Attack on Titan Season 3 to Air in July 2018, Plus a New Compilation Film Announced

Attack on Titan fans won’t have to wait too long this time for the upcoming third season!

During the end of the show’s second season run in Japan, a third anime season of the hit series Attack on Titan was announced with a promo video that takes note of the various volumes it could be adapting. However there was not much information to share with regards to what the anime will cover overall. Later down the line Funimation announced they have acquired the rights to the third season and even stating it was due for Spring 2018 (April-June 2018) but there was no other source to back this up.

Now it has been announced that the third season of Attack on Titan will begin broadcast in Japan during the Summer 2018 anime season at July 2018. The episode count, staff details, and cast details are all under-wraps for the time being but expect more information to appear once the show is close-by.

In addition a new compilation movie was also announced, based on the events of the show’s second season. The movie will be subtitled Kakusei no Houkou (which might translate to ‘Roar of Awakening’) and will begin its Japanese theatrical release on 13th January 2018. Funimation have the rights to the two previous theatrical compilation films with no other news to share at this point.

Attack on Titan Season 1 is available on Blu-ray and DVD from distributors Manga Entertainment, Madman and Funimation for English territories. Attack on Titan Season 2 is currently licensed by Funimation with a home video release planned presumably in 2018.
