Anime Limited Reveal More Information on the UK re-release of Wolf’s Rain

Distributor Anime Limited have announced a ton of new information for the upcoming UK re-release of Wolf’s Rain.

The 2003 series from studio Bones and director Tensai Okamura will be back in print as an Ultimate Edition Blu-ray release (originally planned as a collector’s edition), so we now have more information for what the set has to offer.

There will be a standard edition Blu-ray as well, but we do not have an exact release date for the time being.

First things first we’ll keep the details brief since the distributor has posted a well-detailed blog-post on the subject which you can view here. In addition here is the link to the Shop AllTheAnime page for the Ultimate Edition Blu-ray.

The Ultimate Edition will contain the following content:

  • All 26 episodes & 4 OVAs across 4 Blu-ray discs in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles
  • The Blu-ray discs are based on the North American master which has been upscaled in-house by Funimation
  • The discs will be housed inside a rigid box with clean artwork and digipacks to hold the discs.
  • 9 Artcards
  • 3 A3-sized posters rolled up into a tube similarly with Eureka Seven and A Silent Voice
  • 100-page A4-sized Artbook

The on-disc contents will be the same for all versions of the Anime Limited release. Bonus features include:

  • Two Japanese cast interviews
  • Japanese staff interview
  • Pilot Film
  • Promotional Films and Videos
  • Textless Opening and Endings

We initially reported that the set would be scheduled for 25th June 2018, but now we can confirm that it has been pushed forward to 28th May 2018 just after MCM London Comic Con (25th-27th). The suggested retail price for the set is £149.99 with retailers are expected to sell for much less later down the line. Anime Limited will begin their pre-orders starting Friday 2nd March 2018.

There will be 1000 units available for the Ultimate Edition with the set available for any retailer that sells anime, such as Amazon UK for instance.

To help promote the release the distributor has also offered a trailer and plot synopsis for the show:

Paradise-a legend, a myth, and a hopeless dream in a world that has become a wasteland. It is not meant for everyone, only the wolves thought to be extinct yet still roam the lands. When the Flower Maiden awakens, the path to the end will open.

Kiba, a lone white wolf, wanders into a poverty stricken city on a quest. The scent of Lunar Flowers and the will to find Paradise is all he has. Along the way, he runs into other outcast wolves: Tsume, Hige, and Toboe, each with their own story and troubles. Fate bringing them together, and together they seek out the Flower Maiden, Cheza, and their way to Paradise. But, doing so is no simple matter.

Up against a world that fears them and a man with mysterious abilities, their journey is overrun with challenges and worse-sacrifices. With limited time, they must fight to protect Cheza against everyone who seeks her and discover the hidden path to their destiny. This group of broken souls will form a pack and take their journey to the doors of Paradise. But is it worth the end of the world?

The Ultimate Edition release of Wolf’s Rain will be available starting 28th May 2018 across all available retailers.
