CLANNAD’s upcoming PlayStation 4 Japanese release includes English support

CLANNAD has been loved by many fans in both the anime and visual novel community, and this year Key and Prototype announced plans to bring the original visual novel to the PlayStation 4. Recently the publisher has revealed that the upcoming Japanese release will include English support!

The PlayStation 4 release is an updated version of the PlayStation 3 release, and some additional information:

Full HD Support, The Series’ Highest Resolution – All images will support 1920×1080 pixels full HD, the series’ highest resolution. Experience the never tired and moving story with more beautiful visuals than ever before.

5.1ch Surround Sound Support – All music (background music and songs) and some voices support 5.1ch surround sound. Connect a surround speaker system or 5.1ch headphones to your PlayStation 4, and get wrapped up in the beautiful background music. (You can switch between stereo for music and monoaural for voices.)

Text Support for Both Japanese and English – Text supports both Japanese and English languages, including the digital manual (voices are Japanese-only). You can even switch languages during gameplay. There is also a “Dangopedia” feature that explains Japanese culture.

In addition the cover art for the PlayStation 4 release was also revealed:

The PlayStation 4 release is available starting 14th June 2018 for 5,200 Yen. You can order the visual novel on a couple sites including Amazon Japan and Play Asia. There is currently no word on this version being brought over to the west.

CLANNAD has been released in the west for PC & Steam by publisher Sekai Project thanks to a very successful kickstarter project. The anime adaptation has been licensed and released on DVD by Manga Entertainment in the UK and on Blu-ray by Sentai Filmworks in the US.
