MCM Loves Anime Returns With Early Maquia Showing

Want to see Mari Okada’s directorial debut, Maquia: When the Promised Flower Booms, but are too impatient for its 27th June wide release? Well, distributor Anime Limited are offering anime fans the chance to attend an early screening as part of the largest pop culture event in the country, MCM London Comic Con! That’s right – MCM Loves Anime is back!

As part of a special mobile cinema within the convention itself, Anime Limited will be providing opportunities to see two stellar anime movies on the big screen, with Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms on Friday 25th May at 7:30pm. Then the following day, Makoto Shinkai’s cult phenomenon Your Name will be taking a victory lap on Saturday 26th May at 7:30pm – the perfect opportunity to introduce someone new to the modern classic.

Tickets cost £12 each and are on sale now. Due to the event taking place within the MCM Comic Con event, an entry ticket to the main convention will also be required, which can be purchased from their official website.

The first MCM Loves Anime event took place in 2015 at The Crystal, just a short walk away from the convention hall. There, Anime Limited treated packed audiences to Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin Part I & Part II, Miss Hokusai and the English premiere of the highly anticipated Love Live! The School Idol Movie, before closing with steampunk zombie fantasy, Project Itoh’s The Empire of Corpses.

Directed by Mari Okada (The Anthem of the Heart) at P.A. Works (Shirobako), Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms received its international premiere at Glasgow Film Festival back in March and is set for nationwide release on 27th June 2018. Screenings can be found on the film’s official website.
