Konosuba Anime Movie Project Announced

Konosuba has become a fan favourite for many over the past few years and since 2017 there hasn’t been any news on whether there would be a third season. After a brief teaser on the official Japanese website, it was revealed that Konosuba will have 3 special announcements for their Japanese fans.

The announcements were an Orchestra concert, a Season 1 Blu-ray Disc Box, and an anime movie now in production. In the staff details listed on the website, studio J.C.Staff (DanMachi, One Punch Man Season 2) will be taking over as the main animation studio instead of studio DEEN who animated the previous two seasons.

Other staff members listed for the project include Takasumi Kanzaki as director with Masami Kamgyu as series composition writer, Koichi Kikuta as character designer, and Masato Koda as music composer.

Plot synopsis for the first season:

After a traffic accident, Kazuma Sato’s disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him. She claims to be a goddess, Aqua, and asks if he would like to go to another world and bring only one thing with him. Kazuma decides to bring the goddess herself, and they are transported to a fantasy world filled with adventure, ruled by a demon king. Now Kazuma only wants to live in peace, but Aqua wants to solve many of this world’s problems, and the demon king will only turn a blind eye for so long…

Both seasons of Konosuba are available to watch on Crunchyroll in Japanese audio with English subtitles. The original light novel from author Natsume Akatsuki is available to read in English from book publisher Yen Press via the Yen On imprint, as well as the manga & other spin-offs from the same publisher.
