Evangelion Official Website Teases 3.0+1.0 Japanese Release Date

It’s been six years since the last instalment in the Rebuild of Evangelion series has been released. Since then fans got confused by what was going on, and director Hideaki Anno eventually took a break to work on Shin Godzilla. But throughout these past few years there had been no updates apart from some teases here and there, from the original post-credit scene at Evangelion: 3.33 to the short films that appeared at the Japan Animator Expo.

Today (20th July as we speak), the official Evangelion JP website has updated its teaser poster visual and added a news update stating that the film Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 (シン・エヴァンゲリオン劇場版: ||) is now given a release date.

Studio Khara have now revealed the film is currently set for Japanese theaters sometime in 2020. In addition, special information will be available for Japanese fans nationwide from 20th July to 31st August.

There’s no updates on what is going on for the rest of the world but expect it to take sometime like how 3.0 was handled. Evangelion: 1.11, 2.22 and 3.33 are available on Blu-ray from Funimation in the United States, with Manga UK handling Evangelion: 3.33 and Anime Ltd handling Evangelion: 1.11 for the United Kingdom.

If you want some more Evangelion goodness but can’t wait that long, Bandai Namco’s City Shrouded in Shadow video game also features some characters from the series including Eva Unit-01 and the Angel Sachiel.
