HIDIVE to simulcast Ao-chan Can’t Study!, Senryu Girl and Why the hell are you here, Teacher!?

Streaming service HIDIVE have announced plans to stream three Spring 2019 anime simulcasts as soon as they are broadcast in Japan.

The announced shows were Ao-chan Can’t Study!, Senryu Girl and Why the hell are you here, Teacher!?; all three will be available in territories worldwide outside of Asia in original Japanese audio with subtitles. These three anime series are also short-form, meaning each episode will be around 15 minutes length, and have been licensed by Sentai Filmworks.

Note: The anime’s preview trailers may contain content considered not safe for work, so viewer discretion is advised.

Ao-chan Can’t Study! (Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou ga Dekinai) is an adaptation of Ren Kawahara’s 2015 manga series. The anime is animated by studio Silver Link and directed by Keisuke Inoue. The first episode will air on Friday 5th April at 18:25 UTC (7:25pm UK time). In Japan it is airing as part of the Animeism programming block.

Plot synopsis via HIDIVE & Sentai Filmworks:

“Ao Horie’s father, a popular erotic fiction author, chose Ao’s name because A stands for “apple” and O stands for “orgy”! Desperate to escape her father’s legacy and get into a prestigious university, Ao devotes herself to studying instead of pursuing romance. She has no time for boys, but there’s just one problem: Kijima, her handsome and popular classmate, just confessed his love to her! And to make matters worse, she can’t stop thinking dirty thoughts about him! Looks like escaping her father’s influence will be harder than she thought…”

Senryu Girl (Senryuu Shoujo) is an adaptation of Masakuni Igarashi’s 2016 manga series. The anime is animated by studio Connect and directed by Masato Jinbo. The first episode will air on Friday 5th April at 18:10 UTC (7:10pm UK time). In Japan it is airing as part of the Animeism programming block.

Plot synopsis via HIDIVE & Sentai Filmworks:

“At first glance Yukishiro Nanako seems like a normal high school girl, but she has a notable eccentricity: instead of speaking, she communicates only through written senryu poetry! This means she expresses herself only in 5-7-5 syllables. To most this might seem like an inconvenience, but for Nanako and her ex-delinquent bestie, Busujima Eiji, it adds to the experience of their high school lives as they run the Literature Club.”

Why the hell are you here, Teacher!? (Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!?) is an adaptation of Soborou’s 2015 manga series. The anime is animated by tear-studio and directed by Hiraku Kaneko. The first episode will air on Sunday April 7th at 16:50 UTC (5:50pm UK time).

Plot synopsis via HIDIVE & Sentai Filmworks:

“Ichiro Sato is about as average as a student can get… except for his above-average ability to land himself in totally awkward, intensely risqué situations with his no-nonsense teacher, Kana Kojima! Ichiro has his hands full dealing with these steamy shenanigans and unexpected encounters in the most unlikely places. At least it can’t get any worse, right?”

HIDIVE will also be streaming the Pop Team Epic (Poputepipikku) TV Special on Monday April 1st at 14:30 UTC (3:30pm UK time).

Plot synopsis via HIDIVE:

“There’s no such thing as too much Pop Team Epic. You all demanded more, and now Popuko and Pipimi will continue their memeable antics in two explosive specials that only Pop Team Epic can deliver! This two-episode continuation is a welcomed addition to an already legendary season that threw the rulebook out the window and fearlessly did its own thing.”

More titles are to be revealed for HIDIVE this Spring 2019 season, so stay tuned for future announcements.
