Calamity of a Zombie Girl and King’s Game the Animation Coming to UK Blu-ray in Early 2020

On the third day of December, Anime Limited gives the fans the opportunity to pre-order two upcoming releases on their official website as part of the 12 Days of Christmas sale for 2019.

Going over the theme of horror, the UK distributor is happy to reveal the packaging, release date and details for Calamity of a Zombie Girl and King’s Game the Animation!

Starting off with Calamity of a Zombie Girl, known in Japan as Aru Zombie Shoujo no Sainan, a 2018 film animated by studio Gonzo (Last Exile) and Stingray and based on the novel series Aru Zombie written by Ryou Ikehata (Blood+ manga) and artist Hagane Tsurugi. The anime adaptation was directed by Hideaki Iwami, written by Kenichi Kanemaki and has music composed by Kou Otani.

Plot Synopsis (via Anime Limited):

“On a university campus where most students are out for summer vacation, five students sneak into the library storage to look for treasure. What they find however are a pair of female mummies from Italy.

One of the students, Sayaka, rips open one of the mummies and takes out a stone which empowers the mummies, giving them super strength and eternal life. Having stolen their “stone of life”, the two mummies awaken and ferociously attempt to retrieve what was once theirs.

The only way for the students to escape is to find a way to kill the zombie girls… but will they be able to survive?”

The film made its appearance at Scotland Loves Anime in October 2018 and was made available to stream on Crunchyroll for US & Canadian territories only. The UK will be available to watch the film on Blu-ray starting 10th February 2020 as a regular release. There is currently no English dub so the UK Blu-ray will be presented in original Japanese audio with English subtitles.

Next is King’s Game the Animation, known in Japan as Ousama Game The Animation, a 2017 television series animated by studio Seven (Joshikausei) and based on a phone novel Ousama Game written by Nobuaki Kanazawa. The anime adaptation was directed by Tadayoshi Sasaki, written by Kenji Konuta and has music composed by Naoyuki Osada.

Plot Synopsis (via Anime Limited):

“A class of thirty-two high school students receive texts commanding them to complete strange tasks. Do what the messages say, and more will follow. Fail to go through with them, and face the consequences. Nobuaki Kanazawa has played this game before and knows that these demands must be met. But until penalties for failure become lethal, no one is ready to step out of their comfort zone. With death around every corner, and as orders and punishments become more and more gruesome, the worst in people manages to tear its way out.”

The series became available for simulcast via Crunchyroll on behalf of Anime Limited during the Autumn 2017 anime season. The UK will be available to watch the series on Blu-ray starting 13th January 2020 as a collector’s edition release, offering a rigid box with digipack packaging, a 20-page booklet, and a poster. The UK Blu-ray will be presented in both the original Japanese audio with English subtitles and the Funimation English dub.

Anime Limited has confirmed that these two titles will be available for pre-order across multiple retailers in the coming weeks.
