Funimation Announces Third Wave of Spring 2020 Anime Simulcasts

A few more anime shows from the Spring 2020 seasonal line-up will stream on the Funimation Now service, Funimation has announced over the past week.

Joining the likes of Glepnir, Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2, and TAMAYOMI: The Baseball Girls are new shows Arte, Bungo and Alchemist -Gears of Judgement- (Bungou to Alchemist: Shinpan no Haguruma) and Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater (Houkago Teibou Nisshi). Each series will be available in Japanese audio with English subtitles during its weekly simulcast and accessible for territories in the United Kingdom, Ireland, United States and Canada.

Arte will stream every Saturday at 3:30pm BST. The anime is an adaptation of Kei Ookubo’s manga series of the same name and is adapted by studio Seven Arcs.

“Born into an aristocratic family in Florence, Italy, during the 16th century Renaissance era, Arte has dreams of becoming an artist. In an age of social classes, Arte is willing to cast aside her aristocratic lifestyle and stops at nothing to achieve her dreams. She finds apprenticeship in a painting studio owned by Leo, an artist who is strict but prioritizes ability over gender.”

Bungo and Alchemist -Gears of Judgement- (Bungou to Alchemist: Shinpan no Haguruma) will stream every Friday at 6:23pm BST. The anime is an adaptation of a browser and mobile video game series from DMM GAMES and is adapted by studio OLM.

“The series follows a group of historic writers (all based on real people) who use their special abilities to rescue books that have been cursed by the “Taints,” an evil force. While its premise is fantastical, the series’ core focus will be on its characters, some of whom you may recognize, including Ryunosuke Akutagawa and H.P. Lovecraft.”

Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater (Houkago Teibou Nisshi) will stream every Tuesday at 3:00pm BST. The anime is an adaptation of Yasuyuki Kosaka’s manga series of the same name and is adapted by studio Doga Kobo.

“Introverted Hina Tsurugi is trying to adjust to her new school since moving from the countryside. And in spite of her unease around sea life, classmate Yuuki Kuroiwa somehow convinces her to join the Breakwater Fishing Club. She wants to be open to these new friends and experiences, but some of them are as strange as the fish they’re supposed to hook. Is she biting off more than she can chew?”
