Funimation UK/IE to Stream Naruto Shippuden and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Distributor Funimation had begun teasing some news regarding the Naruto franchise using the #BelieveIt tag and today it has been officially announced that both Naruto Shippuden and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations will be available to stream on the platform. This will be for the United Kingdom and Ireland territories.

The original Naruto series was made available in October 2019, while Naruto Shippuden was hinted previously when Funimation first acquired Manga Entertainment in May 2019. Naruto Shippuden and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations will begin streaming starting Wednesday 1st July 2020.

Naruto Shippuden

Based on Part II of the original manga series by Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto Shippuden adapts volumes 28 to 72 with a total of 500 episodes by studio Pierrot. The anime aired between February 2007 to March 2017. Funimation will provide all 500 episodes dubbed and subbed.

“Naruto Uzumaki is back! After two and a half years of training on the road with Jiraiya of the Sannin, Naruto is back in the Village Hidden in the Leaves, and he’s ready to show off his new skills.

He and Sakura team up to take on their old master Kakashi, who’s impressed with their progress. They’ll have plenty of opportunity to put it into action when news arrives from the Sand Village that Gaara, Naruto’s former rival and now Kazekage of the Sand, has been kidnapped!

And the culprits are the very same group who are after Naruto–the Akatsuki!”

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Based on Ukyō Kodachi’s manga series after the success of the Boruto: Naruto the Movie anime, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations takes place after the events of Naruto Shippuden and is currently on-going by studio Pierrot. The anime starting airing in April 2017 with over 150 episodes available. Funimation will provide the first 51 episodes dubbed and subbed.

“Meet Naruto’s son! His name is Boruto and he’s just like his dad – unfortunately. He’s rambunctious, rebellious, and more than a handful!

He’s joined by the next generation of the Hidden Leaf Village – including Sarada, the daughter of Sasuke; and Mitsuki, a shinobi of mysterious lineage! Boruto and his friends have their hands full when they investigate a dangerous entity known as “The Ghost.” Can Boruto save the village just like dad?”

Distributor Manga Entertainment has the UK & Ireland rights for the Naruto franchise, with all of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden released on DVD. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is also available on Blu-ray.
