Anime Limited Partners with ITV’s Upcoming Streaming Service

Anime is coming to ITV’s upcoming “ITVX” streaming service, following a deal between the broadcaster and distributor Anime Limited. The deal will include over 500 episodes and 200 hours worth of anime television series and films, ranging from proven classics and more contemporary hits, including:

  • Cowboy Bebop

This announcement is the first mention that Anime Limited have acquired Gunbuster, a 6-episode OVA series that marked the directorial debut of Hideaki Anno, who later went on to become the acclaimed creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Discotek Media had previously announced that they had acquired the series for release in North America later this year, with plans to include a new English dub. Anime Limited have yet to confirm any further details or plans to release Gunbuster at time of writing.

Andrew Partridge, president and CEO of Anime Ltd. said: “We could not be more pleased than to team up with ITV in our efforts to share world-class Japanese animation with new audiences and lifelong fans across the United Kingdom. With a diverse lineup of anime from some of the most impressive minds in television and film, ITVX promises to be an essential destination for anyone interested in the medium.”

ITVX is an updated streaming service currently set to launch in the United Kingdom in late 2022, which will be available both free with ads, or as part of a subscription that will also include access to BritBox. As well as anime, ITVX will streaming events like the forthcoming FIFA World Cup as they are broadcast on ITV’s television channels.
