Anime Limited Acquires Rent-A-Girlfriend, Patlabor the Movie, Venus Wars, Castlevania Season 3, Plus Info on January & February 2024 Pre-Orders
Anime Limited are no strangers to livestreams for their upcoming news and releases, but most of them were tied to their festivals or for their annual Christmas sale. Recently, Anime Limited decided to host a showcase that went into detail on what to expect for the first few months of 2024 for their UK home video line-up.
The showcase was split into a few sections. They recapped some announcements from MCM London Comic Con last October which included the likes of Naruto and Re:ZERO Season 2 coming to Blu-ray as well as theatrical news on Blue Giant and Lonely Castle in the Mirror, but others includes brand new license announcements, packaging artwork for select titles and what to expect for the Early Birds available in January and February.
New License Announcements
First, let’s go over what was announced for a UK home video release in 2024! Starting off with a selection of titles that were licensed by Crunchyroll, but before they successfully merged with Funimation they sub-licensed the home video rights out to different distributors and what we have below are a batch that were licensed over to either Sentai Filmworks or Viz Media in North America and now Anime Limited for the UK.
The God of High School
Based on Yongje Park’s WebToon from South Korea and adapted into an anime by studio MAPPA (Attack on Titan: The Final Season). Staff credits include director Sung Hoo Park (Jujutsu Kaisen, Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation), composition writer Kiyoko Yoshimura (Garo -Vanishing Line-), character designer Manabu Akita (Kakegurui) and music composer Arisa Okehazama (The Apothecary Diaries).
Anime Limited will release the complete series on a collector’s edition Blu-ray format for a 2024 release window.
Granbelm -The Two Princeps-
An original anime series by studio Nexus (The Eminence in Shadow). Staff credits include director Masaharu Watanabe (Re:ZERO, Wakaba Girl), composition writer Jukki Hanada (The Dangers in My Heart), character designers Shinichirou Otsuka (Re:ZERO) & Kei Imanaka, and music composer Kenichiro Suehiro (Golden Kamuy).
Anime Limited will release the complete series on a collector’s edition Blu-ray format for a 2024 release window. Pre-orders will also begin in February 2024.
Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 1
Based on Reiji Miyajima’s manga series and adapted into an anime by studio TMS Entertainment (Dr. STONE). Staff credits include director Kazuomi Koga (Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible, TenPuru), composition writer Mitsutaka Hirota (Nanbaka), character designer Kanna Hirayama (Oshi no Ko) and music composer Hyadain (Opening theme song for Nichijou).

Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It Season 1
Based on Alifred Yamamoto’s manga series and adapted into an anime by studio Zero-G (Farming Life in Another World). Staff credits include director Toru Kitahata (Haganai NEXT, Love, Election and Chocolate), composition writer Rintarou Ikeda (Insomniacs After School), character designer Yūsuke Isouchi (sub-designer for Farming Life in Another World) and music composers hisakuni, Shōichirō Hirata
Kaoru Ōtsuka, Shūhei Takahashi, Takuma Sogi & Yūko Takahashi.

Somali and the Forest Spirit
Based on Yako Gureishi’s manga series and adapted into an anime by studios Satelight (Helck) and Hornets (7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life). Staff credits include director Kenji Yasuda (Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, Macross Delta), composition writer Mariko Mochizuki, character designer Ikuko Ito (Sailor Moon S) and music composer Ryo Yoshimata (After the Rain).
Anime Limited will release the complete series on a collector’s edition Blu-ray format for a 2024 release window. Pre-orders will also begin in February 2024.

Castlevania Season 3
Based on Konami’s video game franchise and adapted into an animated series by Frederator Studios’ Kevin Kolde & Fred Seibert and Shankar Animation’s Adi Shankar. This is the third of four seasons that were released for the Netflix platform. Anime Limited have previously released the first two seasons on Blu-ray and Viz Media in North America have also released the series on home video.

Venus Wars
Based on Yoshikazu Yasuhiko’s manga series and adapted into an anime film by studios Kugatsusha & Triangle Staff (NieA_7). Staff credits include director, writer & character designer Yoshikazu Yasuhiko (Arion, Crusher Joe the Movie, character designer for Mobile Suit Gundam), writer Yuichi Sasamoto (Bodacious Space Pirates) and music composer Joe Hisaishi (The Boy and the Heron).
Anime Limited will release the film on a collector’s edition Blu-ray format for a 2024 release window.
A Place Further Than the Universe Update
Next we have new packaging artwork revealed for the upcoming collector’s edition Blu-ray release for A Place Further Than the Universe.
The collector’s set includes a rigid box, a digipack, original soundtrack CD, 92-page Booklet, 4 Art Cards and an A3 poster.
There’s no official release date just yet but the distributor knew people were asking for an update so they were able provide folks what the set will look like whilst its still being worked on.
A Place Further Than the Universe, much like Great Pretender, Macross Plus and To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts, will also be released in the US & Canada as well as the UK & Ireland.
January 2024 Early Bird Pre-Order Offers
Next let’s take a look on what will be available to pre-order during the month of January at the start of the year. Great Pretender
Deluxe Edition Blu-ray
Available to pre-order on Thursday 4th January 2024 on AllTheAnime’s store is the complete series deluxe edition Blu-ray release for Great Pretender, the original anime series by WIT Studio (Spy x Family, The One Piece) and director Hiro Kaburagi (91 Days).
The deluxe set includes a rigid box, four Amaray cases to house all five Blu-ray discs, a 196-page Booklet, 10 Art Cards and a double-sided A3 Poster.
The early bird offer for this title will be available for an extended period of a month than a week.
Patlabor the Movie

Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin I-VI
Limited Edition Blu-ray
Available to pre-order on Thursday 25th January 2024 on AllTheAnime’s store is the limited edition Blu-ray release for Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin, a 2015-2018 theatrical anime OVA series by studio Sunrise (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) and director Takashi Imanishi (Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory).
The limited set includes a rigid box to house all six OVA episodes of the series.
February 2024 Early Bird Pre-Order Offers
Next let’s take a look on what will be available to pre-order during the month of February. So far we know of five titles but only two of them have had artwork and dates noted thus far.
Blue Thermal
Collector’s Edition Blu-ray
Available to pre-order on Thursday 1st February 2024 on AllTheAnime’s store is the collector’s edition Blu-ray release for Blue Thermal, a 2022 theatrical anime film by studio Telecom Animation Film (Tower of God) and director Masaki Tachibana (Barakamon).

Eureka: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution
Collector’s Edition Blu-ray
Available to pre-order on Thursday 8th February 2024 on AllTheAnime’s store is the collector’s edition Blu-ray release for Eureka: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution, a 2021 theatrical anime film by studio Bones (Bungo Stray Dogs) and director Tomoki Kyoda (RahXephon). This is the third and final film in the Hi-Evolution trilogy.
The collector’s set includes a rigid box, an Amaray case and a 192-page Storyboard Book.
Dorohedoro
Original Soundtrack Vinyl
Available to pre-order on Thursday 15th February 2024 on AllTheAnime’s store is the the original soundtrack Vinyl release for Dorohedoro, the 2020 television anime series adapted by studio MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen) and director Yuichiro Hayashi (Kakegurui).
As mentioned earlier, both Granbelm and Somali and the Forest Spirit will also be available to pre-order in the month of February.
