Anime on Demand Announces New Simulcasts Thu, 27 Sep 2012

Anime on Demand announced two of the six autumn season shows it plans to simulcast via its Facebook page, the first being the anime television series K.

K is a title that Anime UK News has been following since its first announcement. The list of voice actors includes Daisuke Namikawa, Tomokazu Sugita, Kenjiro Tsuda, Daisuke Ono, Mamoru Miyano, Miyuki Sawashiro, Yui Horie, Takahiro Sakurai, Jun Fukuyama.

The show’s director is Shingo Suzuki who also acts as character designer. His work can be seen in Read or Die (OVA), Noein and Mardock Scramble Movies. Makoto Furuta (Samurai 7, Armitage III (OVA) is the chief animation director and Gou Nakanishi is the producer. Nakanishi has worked on the anime Asura Cryin’, Heroic Age, Negima!? and Fafner, is involved and theme songs for the anime will be performed by the group Angela (Asura Cryin’, Jinki: Extend, and Shikabane Hime:Kuro).

The second show is  Kyoto Animation’s latest project "She Has Adolescent Delusions, but I want to Love Her". The anime is based on what comedian Hikaru Ijūin terms “Chū-2 byō” or “middle-school second-grade disease” which covers adolescent thoughts that teenagers have like delusions of grandeur.

Synopsis

Yūta Togashi is a boy who used to suffer from something called “Chū-2 byō”. However he outgrew this phase when he entered high school. His girlfriend Rikka Takanashi still has this problem but things are ticking along nicely between the two of them until, wouldn’t you know it, another cute girl who used to be Togashi’s friend in middle school appears and she is also suffering from the same syndrome. She is Satone Shichimiya and she will cause all sorts of chaos.

This anime is based on Torako’s novel of the same name which received an honourable mention in the novel category at the first Kyoto Animation Award program. Kyoto Animation began publishing the novel with illustrations by studio animator Nozomi Ousaka.

The anime is directed by Tatsuya Ishihara (Air, K-ON!) with series composition orchestrated by Jukki Haneda (Steins;Gate).

Rather interestingly, all six of the titles are going to be streamed free. In a statement the website announced:

You'll see a few aesthetic changes for one - but the most important change is that we want to do something special for not only our subscribers but all UK anime fans. So for this season exclusively all 6 of our new simulcasts will be free.

That's right - you heard me - 100% free with only a pre-roll catch from us, no adverts. It's a one-season exclusive and we'll reveal what's next after that following a bit of old-fashioned talking to you, the fans, to build an even better service here.

As a result for now we've removed subscription requirements for this season too as of today so many subscribers will have received a cancellation notice. We are currently working out a gift scheme for people who have been subscribers over the last season to make up for the lack of content.
