Tales of Xillia ANIME Adaptation

A Japanese retail site has revealed the existence of an anime adaptation of the recently released Namco Bandai game Tales of Xillia.

In a listing for the January 2012 issue of Kadokawa Group Publishings Viva Tales of Magazine which will be released on the 28th of November the content described included “Tales of Xillia the Animation”.

Although the game was originally released in Japan on the 8th of September this year, an anime adaptation is not as wild as one might think as other games in the Tales of franchise have inspired anime adaptations. Furthermore the animation studio ufotable (Gyo, Fate/Zero, Coyote Ragtime Show) produced the animated cutscenes for this game, the 13th title in the Tales series.

The game takes place in the world of Liese Maxia where humans, monsters and spirits coexist. Spirits allow humans to make wishes and channel spirits in order to protect themselves. Ufortunately two countries are vying for supremacy, the La Shugall empire which has a long-established dominance and prosperity and the country of Jule, which is modernising itself through the use of spirits. Jude Mathis is a medical student studying in La Shugall and when an influx of patients from a nearby military base arrive at his hospital he investigates, meeting a girl named Millia Maxwell who is investigating the deaths of spirits. Together, the two uncover a dark mystery and must flee La Shugall’s military.

Although there is no western release of the game there is a campaign to get it localised.
